Dry Cargo Broker – Genoa

Role Details

Our client, a prominent European shipbroking firm, is seeking an experienced Dry Cargo Broker to strengthen their team in Genoa. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the Handy or Supramax markets, along with strong client relationships that can help drive our client’s growth and presence in Europe and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and close charter agreements, managing all stages from lead generation to final contract.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including shipowners, charterers, and agents.
  • Monitor global market trends, gathering and analyzing data to provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Develop new business opportunities by identifying prospects and expanding the client portfolio.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide clients with seamless service.
  • Mentor junior brokers, offering insights and guidance to support their professional development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Dry Cargo Broker, ideally in the Handy or Supramax markets.
  • Established client base with transferrable accounts and a history of successful fixtures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with fluency in English; proficiency in Italian or other languages is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with the capability to assess market conditions and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
